SABLOS
Having compiled thousands of recommendations from hundreds of the world’s most inspiring people, we soon realised we were sitting on a precious resource.
Forever frustrated by anonymous reviews and misleading details on search engines and web-based trip advisories, we decided it was time to create a trusted everyday travel utility that people could 100 per cent rely on when they explore the cities they visit or call home.

BROOMBERG & CHANARIN / Bendita Gloria
THE LATE ESTATE

To me, a museum is much more than just a place where you can see works of art. It is a space that provokes thought and projection. A sanctuary. A place that will move you and, with any luck, will leave its mark.

Fanzine ajoblanco

Barcelona Design History
Only two letters: BD. We feel honoured and proud because today they are associated with one of the best design concepts. What in 1972 was the expression of an almost insolent rebellion by some young, restless architects soon became a production philosophy with a focus on pushing limits. A unique experience that offered an interpretation of design that was unheard of in our country; a new sensitivity, a distinct perception of everyday objects.

Fotolibro – Fila 7

All paintings are traces of existence and accumulated remains of experience.

Joan Miró
Miró Documents
À toute épreuve’, more than a book presents a six-handed adventure in the making of an artist’s book. The painter Joan Miró, the editor Gérald Cramer and the poet Paul Éluard, who died before the book was published, worked in close collaboration over a ten-year period with the idea of creating a book-object in which poems and images would shape every page in such a way that, to quote the exhibition’s curator Christopher Green, the user would ‘experience’ the book.
Colita
EL VIAJE SIN FIN
Her portraits show some of the most beautiful moments of the art of these undisputed flamenco masters, but it is the approach that Colita proposes what makes us get to know each of these important figures a little better. Free from the artificiality of photomontage, the photographs in this exhibit bring us closer to human nature, to the everyday quality of human actions, to the simplicity of human habits and to the essence of pure flamenco.

It was a pile of photos assembled over decades of activity by the weekly magazine Alerta, one of various publications which, since the 1960s, have served up a steady diet of raw street imagery to their readers: photos of lifeless bodies, suspects already condemned by the unbridled power of the crime photographer’s camera, fragile homophobic representations of all manner of deviant sexuality, and a variety of unspeakable objects aimed at the amusement of the public.

Papalosophy is about being a rock star every day – in and out of the kitchen. It’s a philosophy and lifestyle that demands you keep dreaming and, above all, keep cooking. El País que Volem
ART I FUTUR
Frederic Amat (artista), Antonio Monegal, Lluís Pascual (textos)
AMAT / LLIURE
Antoni Monegal

Castañer
Castañer
CASTAÑER'S ORIGIN can be traced back to 1776, year in which Rafael Castañer, the family's first espadrille maker, was born. In 1927, Luis Castañer and his cousin Tomàs Serra founded the brand's first workshop. In the early 70s, Lorenzo and Isabel attended a trade fair in Paris, where fate was on their side. Three young Frenchmen came up to their stand, looked around and began to ask questions. Isabel recognized the one with the most thoughtful look: He was Yves Saint Laurent, who had been looking in vain for months for someone to make him a wedge espadrille.

HORSE
Horse
Many people are curious about the name of the magazine. So why HORSE? Because I believe that it is the most noble, beautiful harmonious and faithful animal that transmits character and passion.
The horse is at the heart of the most elitist sport in the world: POLO. It is present in mythology, literature and art from Pegasus to Black Beauty, being a faithful companion to man in all of those countries it reaches, or also in their purest and most wild state. All of these are the values that we aim to transmit at our magazine, HORSE: PASSION, FEELING and BEAUTY.
Museu del Disseny de Barcelona
Museu del Disseny de Barcelona
Museu del Disseny de Barcelona is the Catalan capital’s centre devoted to the arts of the object and design. The new museum was created as a result of merging the collections from four of the city’s museums: the Museu de les Arts Decoratives (devoted to the decorative arts), the Museu de Ceràmica (ceramics), the Museu Tèxtil i d’Indumentària (textiles and clothing) and the Gabinet de les Arts Gràfiques (graphic arts). Evidently, then, the common denominator of all these collections from the past and the present is the object and all that it signifies or has signified and contributed to our lives: from conception, creation and production to use in different epochs and societies, during both the artisanal and preindustrial periods and the industrial and digital ages.

Barcelona Zerkowitz 1921-1958
Zerkowitz’s photographs combine brilliantly the vocation of the chronicler, technical skill, and an aesthetic sensibility, orchestrated by an aspect that articulates and harmonises them all: his passion for work well done and for his adopted country.
Zerkowitz was a first-class photographic chronicler; Viennese by birth and Barcelonian by adoption, he created a visual record of Catalonia and the Barcelona of his time. The testimony to the hours he dedicated to portraying life at street level comprises, today, an invaluable legacy. When contemplating his photographs one is captivated by their extraordinary beauty and artistic quality which, in addition to their documentary value, distinguish the artist and his work with the character of true talent.
Cristina de Middel
Party. Quotations from Chairman Mao TseTong
PARTY, the new photobook by Cristina de Middel, follows on the enormous success of The Afronauts.
PARTY was conceived by Cristina after a first trip to China in 2012, undertaken in the aim of “making photography, of reacting with the camera to whatever caught my attention, without any attempt to explain or analyze.”
She returned “with a large series of photographs that were hard to classify and edit, since the only common denominator was my own astonishment.” PARTY is a photobook built on the foundation of Mao’s Little Red Book. It is a book with “new” quotations and a free spirit that somehow shows us what China is today. Cristina uses the skeleton of Mao’s little book—what used to be the “Bible” of the Chinese people—to create a particular narrative.
As Cristina herself puts it: “I decided to adapt this historic political statement to modern times by censoring and hiding the parts of the text that are no longer in force and highlighting some other redesigned sentences that, for me, form a more accurate portrait of the People's Republic of China in the twentieth-first century.”
Fontcuberta
Deletrix
The Deletrix series embodies a desire to register direct examples of censorship on written texts and from surprise at the new forms that the act of scoring out, deleting or effacing inscribe on the text. In censored texts of past centuries in libraries in different part of the world Fontcuberta has found the clearest examples of this violence inflicted on the documents, the texts that make up our cultural tradition. It is highly significant, then, that images of censored pages of a Latin edition of Erasmus’s Adagia, published in Basel in 1541 and now in the Historical Library of the University of Salamanca, should form the first part of the Deletrix series, commenced in 2006.

WATCHING IN SILENCE
This is how all the books in the world should start: in silence. Because this is how the project of an artist always starts; oblivious to the look of those who will later be watching his work.
Pep Bonet -one of the most internationally renowned photographers and recently awarded at the World Press Photo competition- and Ignacio Jarillo - a journalist devoted to world news reports, feature articles and radio information- finally invite us to Watch in Silence their work: a continuous journey through the world inhabited by those who may have so little or nothing, but who can show and teach us so much.
Mal Pelo
Swimming Horses
Swimming Horses is a book born of a desire to pause, to seek a moment of concentration and calm in which to review the elements accompanying Mal Pelo’s creations over the past twelve years.
In it we present photographs by Jordi Bover which, as well as having great depth and visual power, allow us to look at different aspects of our work: movement, the use of objects, lighting, gesture and presence, the tensions of space and some of the codes and tools we have used. Then there are also the voices of people who have followed the evolution of the group, offering their precise views of aspects such as the way we inhabit the stage, or how we construct a fragmented dramatic composition based on different languages and the strength of the performers.
Swimming Horses is a record that offers a many-sided view of the work we have shared with collaborators and spectators and is, at the same time, a gesture of thanks to them all for accompanying us on this beautiful journey.
Manel Esclusa
Barcelona, pell i ombra
Photographer Manel Esclusa lays out for us a powerful yet subtle narrative in black and white through 140 pictures, in this faithfully executed joint edition by Novaera Publications and Barcelona City Hall.
Esclusa shows that he is the photographer of the night and of the city, of lights and of nebulous presences. The photographs, taken between 1980 and 2010, explore and reveal unknown aspects of Barcelona's emblematic landmarks, as well as other spaces that are, by virtue of the artist´s particular vision, less readily identified.
Author Rafael Argullol contributes the introduction, complemented by two poems from Joan Vinyoli, that speak of the night and darkness.
María Espeus
El Otro (the other)
This book contains the work that María Espeus has executed over two years, through over 180 photographs chosen and laid out by the artist herself. Spaces, subjects and objects are the three pillars on which her visual discourse rests, illustrating -through a finely staged photographic dialogue- Barcelona’s Raval quarter, where she has lived since 1989.
The supreme quality of this creative artist’s work is strikingly expressed in this painstakingly edited volume.
Nazario
Nazario Íntimo
Nazario Íntimo is a collection of the works of this well-known and celebrated illustrator and painter, designed and executed by his friend Javier Mariscal. By shifting the timeline of the images, altering their proportions and juxtaposing them in ways never imagined by those who believed before now that they knew the work of this brilliant artist, this edition offers up a novel and startling vision by a creator who has earned a place in his own right in the 21st century's artistic canon.
Mariscal
Mariscal Sketches
Sketches is a highly personal and intimate volume. It embraces sketches, idea outlines, notebook pages… Nothing in this book has been selected by chance, even if it does not follow any specific timeline. It contains what Javier Mariscal has wanted it to contain, using a selection process in which he himself has played with the images and shuffled them around until “they all sit happily with each other”. Mariscal, in addition to rescuing these pictures from their retirement in old folders, decided to add a narrative describing in words the way he draws and he regales us with snippets of his life “in pictures” that provide the clues to understanding why drawing has helped him live his life, as well as inspiring those of us who have had the good fortune to be at the receiving end of his talent.

Óscar Astromujoff
Cándido de Voltaire
Voltaire's Candide is one of world literature's greatest works. Here it is presented as an “illustrated book” but not in the conventional sense, with the established order for this type of edition being subverted. Rather than the illustrations being
interspersed within the text, it is the space following the end of the novel –page 86– that is set aside for retelling the same story, but this time reinterpreted in the form of images, using the magical paintings of Oscar Astromujoff. The lovingly executed translation by José Ramón Monreal and the high quality of the introduction by two outstanding experts, Fernando Savater and Pedro Azara, are all brought together to make this edition unique.
Miguel Angel Nalda
Nalda 15 años
Miguel Ángel’s first camera was an old Hasselblad that he inherited from his father. Perhaps this is why he repeats this format so much over the course of the book. As if without even realising it.
In these pages, you will find both commi-ssioned works and personal experiments. Selected indiscriminately. Linked to one another only by the care with which they were taken. As if there were no difference between a commission and art.
This is a man capable of showing up at the laboratory with negatives cut into strips and taped together. As if “photographer” meant “craftsman.” And “image,” “experiment.”

Dany Virgili
Kron ¿El Paso del Tiempo Produce Monstruos?
Dany Virgili invites us to attain a new perspective on the world, in this photographic homage to GOYA's Los Caprichos, redefining the paradigms by which we process the monstrous irrational reality in which we survive.
Presented by National Poetry Award Winner José Corredor-Matheos at the recent exhibition held at the Royal Tapestry Factory, the book consists of 3 sections:
In RETRA we are able to appreciate de development of his portraiture, culminating with those of Their Majesties the King and Queen and their Highnesses the Princes Royal. KRON makes up the central axis of his social critique. And in TRADIKCIONES we are called to escape our prison routines, through 365 images recorded over one year.

Inout & Friends
A singular lamp deserves a singular book. Surely, this is the first time in history that someone pays tribute to a design, which has been more than 5 years in the labour market, in shape of book that gathers its life and the affection of a lot of people.
A hundred of generous friends of the whole world have collaborated in its production contributing drawings, illustrations, photographies, texts and compliments. There are 400 pages dedicates to a huge and plain lamp, monumental and monomaterial, which is called Inout and has turned into a Spanish design hit that has crossed borders.
CAMPER
Inconformista
Many and varied are the fruits of the workshop organised by Camper at Son Fortesa. Amongst them, this book which tells the tale of the event’s adventures and its results. The workshop has a different theme every year, and every year the book too is different and is yet another experimental aspect of the creative liberty that pervades the workshop. On this occasion the experiment consists of telling the tale like a novel so that readers can imagine it in their own way. A perfect task for Matilde M. Oriola, a journalist with the soul of an author and rebellious streak previously unknown to us. No sooner had she landed in Mallorca and read the slogan “Unconformist” over the workshop door than she changed the initial focus of the assignment. The novel, eventually written in tandem with M.S. Laliga, became an extraordinary work of fiction inspired by real people and events, starting with herself in the role of the spy Arnaldur Arnarson.
